President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday said that the over 200 schoolgirls of Government

Secondary School Chibok, Borno State, abducted by Boko Haram insurgents have not been killed.

Jonathan disclosed this while speaking this morning on an AIT programme – ‘Kakaki.’

“The good news is that the insurgents have not killed them,” he said. Jonathan also assured that all towns currently under the control of the terrorists would be

recovered by Nigerian troops before next week.

He, however, admitted that his government initially underestimated the threat posed by the terror

group.

“At the beginning, we didn’t really estimate the capacity of Boko Haram”, he said.

“We’ve also acquired 60 to 65 percent of what is needed to prosecute the war against terrorism.” Jonathan also revealed that his administration has plans to completely privatise the nation’s refineries to ensure efficiency in the oil sector. While assuring of his government’s commitment to resolving the current fuel scarcity, he said the country had to start refining her crude. On insinuations that the recent reduction in the pump price of petrol from N97 to N87 was politically motivated, Jonathan said it was untrue, adding that the reduction was necessitated by the decline in the global oil price. He also promised to stabilise so many sectors of the economy in the next four years if he is re- elected in the forthcoming polls.
